A walk-in freezer using our new single-phase cold storage unit for our home! A bit of an overkill, but it sure is cool!
My wife and I enjoy supporting local suppliers of beef and pork here in West Central Illinois. We also raise our own chickens, usually raising and butchering around 100 at a time here on our farm. We also take a yearly trip down to the Gulf Coast and love to stock up on Seafood and Boudin! As we’re in the middle of some of the best deer hunting in Illinois, we usually have a good stock of venison in the freezer as well.
Prior to getting our new walk-in freezer, all of our frozen food was stored in five chest freezers located in our garage. I absolutely hated it! If you have ever had chest freezers you know the frustration of all your food being buried at the bottom of the freezers! Not only causes waste of food because of age but the frustrating time looking for the steaks. You know they are in there but they’ve been swallowed up at the bottom of the freezer!
The Perfect Excuse!
So being in the portable cold storage business and wanting to have the single-phase refrigeration unit running 24/7/365 for monitoring and testing purposes, we decided this is a perfect excuse to build a walk-in freezer for our home!
The new single-phase refrigeration unit is operating great! Having our frozen goods organized and easily accessible has been wonderful.
