Spring Isn’t All Daisies
Spring is finally here and it seems that it always brings more than just new life at the farm, green grass and morel mushrooms. It also reminds us that after a long tough winter there will always be a spring to renew our faith in everything will be all right with the world and blessing will flow.
While our business has been beyond blessed in this year, personally we have had a “long tough winter.” We had several long months of serious health issues with Mike’s parents and then the devastation of losing our COD (Chief Operating Dog ) Aubrie to cancer at the age of 4. The shop and office just aren’t the same with out our enthusiastic public greeter and rabbit patroller. Although we are beyond sad we are counting our blessing that we got to love her and share her life even for the short period she was with us.
We are focusing on some feel good projects to help us heal and are excited to be working with Bright Hope as they work with local churches around the world fighting extreme poverty in their communities. Bright Hope is currently painting one of our containers with a mural which will then be sent over to Haiti to be used as a school, church and community gathering center. To learn more about Bright Hope you can visit them at www.brighthope.org
We are also working with another nonprofit locally that is sending two of our containers full of items of need to Sierra Leone. Kayla Hatch and her family have been hard at work for several years building relationships with local villages and their health clinics and now currently building a maternity center for the women in the area. Health care of expectant mothers and their young children is really lacking in Sierra Leone. If you would like to learn more about Kayla’s mission you can contact us at 309-325-7201 and we will forward you contact to Kayla.
As part of the healing process we are looking forward to a partnership with the Western Illinois Animal Rescue. We will be supporting their efforts to build a non kill shelter for dogs in cats in our area. To learn more about Western Illinois Animal Rescue at www.wiarrescue.com
Everyone at USA-Containers wish you a happy spring, great mushroom hunting and blessing for you and your family.
